Seven Card Stud
Seven-card stud is a variation of stud poker and was the most popular poker variation in home games across the United States and in casinos in the eastern part of the country, until the recent increase in popularity of Texas hold ‘em.
There are no blinds in Seven Card Stud, each hand begins with every player putting in an ante – a small amount of money which is usually only a fraction of the size of a small bet. Once this is done each player is given three cards - two face down (known as “down cards”) and one face up (known as the “door card”).
Seven Card Stud requires some different skills to Texas Hold’em, to be successful in this game you must have attention to detail and a very good memory.

Texas Hold’em
Little is known about the invention of Texas hold ‘em, however the Texas State Legislature formally recognises Robstown, Texas as the game’s birthplace, dating it to the “early 1900s”. After its creation and spread throughout Texas, hold ‘em was introduced to Las Vegas in 1967 by a group of Texan gamblers and card players. Later on, it was time for Europe to be introduced to this game by bookmakers Terry Rogers and Liam Flood.
A big characteristic of the Texas hold ‘em (also hold’em, holdem) game is that this is a community card game where each player may use any combination of the five community cards and their own two hole cards to make a poker hand, in contrast to poker games like stud or draw where each player holds a separate individual hand.
Because each player starts with only two cards and the remaining cards are shared, Texa Hold’em is a favourable game for strategic analysis. It is not only considered the king of poker games but also a truest test of skills, and that’s why Texas Hold’em is the championship game of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) – the game used to decide the poker world champion. Not bad at all!!!
