Poker Million – The biggest and richest Poker Tournament in Europe

Poker Million is the biggest poker tournament in Europe. The first one took place in the Hilton Hotel on the Isle of Man in November 2000 and John Duthie, a TV Director from London, won it. This first Poker Million was a great success and was watched by thirty million viewers worldwide.

Poker Million II – Live on Sky Sports 1

Poker Million II returned in 2003 and the snooker-player Jimmy White won the $150,000 first prize, shocking the poker world, as this was his first time in a Poker Tournament.

The final was played under the Texas hold ‘em rules and broadcast live on Sky Sports 1. An interesting thing about Poker Million II was that the viewers were able to see all cards via cameras that were placed underneath glass panels on the tables, and the players were wired to a heart monitor, so that viewers could see the top players’ strategies and how relaxed or nervous they really were during the whole game.

Poker Million III – A tournament full of celebrities

In 2004, Poker Million III expanded and 72 professionals, enthusiasts and celebrities alike played this Tournament competing for the $300,000 first prize. With stars such as the snooker Stephen Hendry, Mark Williams and shock 2003 winner Jimmy White sitting at the side of rugby World Cup star Mike Tindall and sports celebrities Tony Cascarino and Phil Taylor, Poker Million III was guaranteed to create great enthusiasm.

Another interesting fact about The Poker Million III is that for the first time in history, half of the 2004 players had qualified online via Ladbrokespoker.com, and the progress of the online qualifiers was keenly anticipated.

Poker Million IV – $1,000,000 prize

Ladbrokes added $855,000 in the prize pool for the Poker Million IV so the first prize of $1,000,000 was guaranteed.

The poker world was once again shocked by another unexpected victory; Tony Jones, who started the evening as an 8/1 outsider, beat TV Celebrity Helen ‘Hells_Bells’ Chamberlain in a breath-taking finale.

The winner of the Poker Million V was Rajesh Modha, a nuclear engineer from Northampton, who won a Ladbrokes Poker qualifier at a cost of $9.
